MATES VISA (Subclass 403)

How it works
• Applicants must first register in the MATES ballot.
• If selected at random, they can apply for the Subclass 403 MATES stream.
• This stream allows Indian graduates and early-career professionals to live and work in Australia for up to 2 years.
FIRST STEP: Register in the MATES ballot if you meet the eligibility requirements.
• Be selected in the MATES ballot
• Hold a valid Indian passport + PAN card
• Be 18–30 years old
• Have graduated from an eligible educational institution with an eligible qualification — Bachelor degree or higher, achieved within the last 2 years
• Your qualification must relate to: renewable energy, mining, engineering, information communications technology, artificial intelligence, financial technology, agricultural technology
• Eligible educational institutions are the Top 100 on the NIRF India Rankings
• English: overall IELTS 6.0, with ≥5.0 in each component
• Financial capacity: usually AUD 5,000 for the primary applicant (plus extra if bringing family)
• Location: you must be outside Australia when applying and when the visa is granted
