Streams of Subclass 186 Visa

There are three streams of the Subclass 186 visa, each of which is adjusted to the particular circumstances of the applicants:

1. Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) Stream

This stream is available to people who are granted applicants with a Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) Subclass 482/457 visa holders transitioning to PR and have full-time (or under transitional arrangements) for that employer for at least two years during the last three years.

Key requirements:
  • The employer must nominate applicant and 2+ years of work experience is required with the nominating employer.
  • Provide documents that verify your work experience for all periods of eligible sponsored employment
  • Occupation should be in the list of relevant skilled occupations
  • Should fulfill the requirements of the English language (IELTS 6 and equivalent) and health.
  • Ae must be Under 45(unless exempt).
  • The visa costs AUD4,910.00 for the main applicant

2. Direct Entry Stream

The Subclass 186 Direct Entry (DE) stream is a permanent residence visa for skilled workers who:

  • Have a job offer from an Australian employer.
  • Are nominated for a permanent position in an eligible occupation on the CSOL (Core Skills occupation List), and
  • Meet skill, age, and English requirements. 
Key requirements:
  • Skills assessment is required.
  • meet competent English level (usually IELTS 6.0 in each band or equivalent).
  • You are being nominated by an Australian employer offering a full-time, ongoing job for at least 2 years.
  • Relevant work experience of at least three years full-time in your nominated occupation and it must be post-qualification.
  • Should be below 45 years at the time of applying(unless exempt).
  • The visa costs AUD4,910.00 for the main applicant. 

3. Labour Agreement Stream

This stream can be used by applicants sponsored by a Labour agreement between an employer and the Australian Government. It best suits those industries whose workforce needs do not fit general lists of skilled occupations.

 

You must be nominated by an Australian employer whose business is:

  • actively and lawfully operating in Australia
  • party to a labour agreement.
Key requirements:
  • Employers should possess an effective labour contract
  • Applicants should satisfy the skills, English, and other tests outlined in the labour agreement
  • The visa costs AUD4,910.00 for the main applicant.
