Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) – A Pathway for Skilled Graduates
The Subclass 485 Temporary Graduate Visa is targeted at the international students who have just finished their studies in Australia. This visa enables suitable graduates to live, study and take employment in Australia at a temporary state as the degree/diploma seekers acquire practical knowledge as per their discipline of study. Applicant must be less than 35 years of age when they apply for this Visa. Overall, 6.5 bands are required with no less than 5.5 each component. Health insurance is required. AFP must have been applied prior to at least 1 day before you lodge this visa.
Subclass 485 visa consists of 3 primary streams, namely:
- Post-Vocational Work Stream- International students that have studied and graduated with an associate degree, diploma or trade qualifications to occupations required in Australia. This stream normally offers up to 18-month stay. Your nominated occupation must be on Medium and Long‑term Strategic Skills List. This visa fees are 2300$ for a primary applicant.
- Post-Higher Education Work Stream- It is available to international graduates who have completed a Higher Education degree in Australia from an Australian institution. This stream provides a 2 year to 3 year stay depending on the level of qualification. Degree must be from CRICOS registered Course. This visa fees are 2300$ for a primary applicant.
- Second Post-Higher Education Work Stream- This visa is for the holders of a TR visa in a Post-Higher Education Work, Post-Study Work or Replacement stream who achieved their degree by studying in an Australian institution located in a regional area. Stay can be 1-2 years depending on regional location and regional area where applicant lived.
